Guyana secured five gold medals from seven division finals when the sixth edition of the Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Championship continued on Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Ryan Rodgers, Shemroy Wintz, Eon Bancroft Jr., Chance Niles and Joshua Thambaran were successful in their respective division title matches. Unfortunately, Dreshawn Willery and Angelica Rodgers were unsuccessful in their championship division bouts for the host nation.
Rodgers defeated Maliki Estwick (Barbados) in the Schoolboys Light Bantamweight 52KG final whilst Wintz defeated Jack Suraj (St Lucia) in the Junior 66KG final and Bancroft Jr., (Guyana) bested Herve Charlemayne (St Lucia) in the Junior 63KG decider.
Similarly, Niles (Guyana) defeated Matthew Newallo (T&T) in the Junior Light Middleweight title match and Thambaran (Guyana) overcame Kino Griffith (Grenada) in the Junior Light Bantamweight 52KG decider.
On the other hand, Jamal Muhammad (T&T) defeated Willery (Guyana) in the Schoolboy 40KG final while Rodgers (Guyana) also suffered a similar fate as she lost to Reyna John (T&T) in the Junior Girls 48KG Final.
Up until press time, the final night of action was underway at the same venue. In each edition, Guyana has emerged as the overall champion.
