GFF Elite League promotional playoff final rescheduled

The highly anticipated final of the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Elite  League Promotional Playoff between Slingerz and Monedderlust football  clubs has been rescheduled to tomorrow night along with a change of venue.

Instead of the final being played at the Eve Leary Ground, it will now kick-off at the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue.

On Sunday night, before the Elite League Promotional Playoff final, the inaugural Women’s  League Division One final match between the Guyana Defence  Force and the Guyana Police Force will raise the curtains on proceedings at 5 PM.

The winner of the Slingerz and  Monedderlust showdown which kicks off at 7 PM will secure an automatic spot in the upcoming  Elite League Season Six (which kicks off in February), along with a one million dollars  preparation grant.

In a release to the media, the GFF revealed that “the change in venue and date is the result of a scheduling conflict at the Eve Leary  Sports Ground in Kingston, Georgetown”.

Despite the late changes, GFF’s Competition Director Troy Peters has issued a call for fans to show their support for their respective clubs by turning out in their numbers.

. To this end, Peters stated; “This will be another weekend of intense competition from four incredibly talented  teams. I invite fans to join us on Sunday, showing support for their teams and  players in what promises to be an electrifying afternoon.”

The Elite League Promotional Playoff got off the ground on December  17, 2023 and featured nine teams (winners of their respective Member Associations’ Leagues)  who all had a shot at entry into the country’s top tier of club football.

Those teams were Beacons (Bartica Football Association), Beacon (Georgetown Football Association), Buxton Stars (East Coast Demerara Football  Association), Dominators (Essequibo/Pomeroon Football Association), Herstelling  Raiders (East Bank Demerara Football Association), Monnederlust (Berbice  Football Association), Slingerz (West Demerara Football Association), Tabatinga  (Rupununi Football Association), and Winners Connection (Upper Demerara  Football Association).
