Stubborn refusal to reimburse for mismatched slippers

Dear Editor,

Following your publication of my complaint, “No refund for Mismatched Slippers” (Stabroek News. March 28, 2024), and a call to the Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission, Mr. Julius, of Julius Variety Store located at 135 Regent Street, was contacted and informed that without a receipt he will not be refunding the $1500.

What has mankind descended to when he/she stubbornly refuses to reimburse an innocent customer for an item which cannot be used? Mr. Julius does not have the matching size of the slippers. He holds a copy of the receipt in his system, and is in receipt of verbal confirmation of the purchase by his own staff. As a first time shopper I am flabbergasted. Uncomfortable and unhappy should be the slogan of his store.

Sincerely,

Ayanna George
