GuySuCo, GAWU for meeting on Enmore  packaging plant deal

A week after the announcement that the Enmore sugar packaging plant will be leased for an oilfield services joint venture, there has been silence from the government on what  that might mean for the future of the East Demerara Estate (EDE) and GuySuCo and GAWU are to meet tomorrow on the issue.

Two men open fire at CANU ranks

Two men opened fire on ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) in Corentyne, Berbice on Tuesday following the interception of a motor car which contained more than $17 million in cannabis.

President Irfaan Ali has reiterated Guyana’s support and solidarity for Cuba and spoke about strengthening cooperation in key areas, during a telephone conversation yesterday with the  island’s President, Miguel Díaz-Canel whom he also invited to visit this country.

Opposition motion seeking expulsion of Dharamlall from Parliament

As a result of the infamous `dildo’  statement made by Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Nigel Dharamlall during the sitting of the National Assembly two weeks ago, a motion has been submitted by opposition parliamentarians Catherine Hughes and Nima Flue-Bess to Parliament to refer the minister to the Committee of Privileges and have him expelled from the House.
