Dear Editor, Permit me some space in your letter pages to share my brief thoughts on the upcoming national examinations.

Dear Editor, Today the world over there is what many are calling a ‘new norm’.

Dear Editor, Yesterday, Guyana crossed a major milestone in completing the recount of the votes cast in the March 2, 2020 elections.

Dear Editor, In an attempt to determine the cause of the predicament the country has fallen into post the March 2, 2020 election, it is necessary to return to March 4/5 when, with the exception of Region 4, the ballots of the nine other Regions were completely counted and tabulated without alarm.

Dear Editor,    As the future of our country is entangled in a political tug-of-war between the two major political parties, I, the undersigned, wish to reiterate that I have no political priority, regardless of what some people may think.

Dear Editor, My heart is heavy, and it takes a lot to do that, given where I have been. 

Dear Editor, The Board of Directors and Administration of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) wish to clarify that contrary to the information contained in Ms.

Dear Editor, As a true friend of Guyana – who spent part of my childhood in Guyana in the early 1980’s – and as a former senior United States government official – I want to make clear that the Guyana election recount will soon be completed, and call upon all parties in Guyana to respect the voters and accept the election results.

Dear Editor, Like the rest of the world, we in Guyana witnessed with pain and horror the brutal murder of George Floyd on May 25th in Minneapolis, USA by a white policeman, invoking memories of the centuries of lynching of black men in the United States of America, where so many of our Guyanese and Caribbean citizens have made their homes.

Dear Editor, The recent statement on the recount process by the Organisation of American States (OAS) that, “A declaration based on these results would lead to the installation of a legitimate government” is that organization’s opinion.

Dear Editor, My letter of February 22 was published under SN’s heading `Do not squander the goodwill of the electorate’.

Dear Editor, In his letter `Guyanese likely to be the perennial losers again no matter who wins the elections’ (SN, 5th June 2020) Mr Emile Mervin seems to have lost hope in Guyana ever being successful.

Dear Editor, The PPP/C had mounted a much more robust, well-organized and issue-oriented campaign than any of its political rivals.

Dear Editor, Several weeks ago, the Ministry of Education assured parents that it would reschedule the sitting of the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations to a date that would not cause panic and allow adequate time for children whose preparation for these exams was disrupted by the arrival of the COVID-19 virus in Guyana.

Dear Editor, My statement that: “fraud once committed, makes everything a nullity.

Dear Editor, I am making this appeal to the Chair of GECOM I write out of deep concern for the future of Guyana, but more importantly for the future of our young people.

Dear Editor, Permit my audacity responding to your editorial note on letter captioned, `Editorial note was an act of suppression and an attempt not to acknowledge profound aspects of the Recount Order’ on Friday, 5th June, 2020.

Dear Editor, One of the greatest threats facing peace and cohesion in the world today is disinformation.

Dear Editor, I have written to the GECOM Chairperson, Ret’d. Justice of Appeal Claudette Singh, suggesting a just, legal and non-partisan standard of proof that must be provided by any party that is asserting discrepancies and anomalies in the General and Regional Elections (G&RE) and/or the National Recount (NR). 

Dear Editor, It is not too early to be earnestly thinking of Truth and Reconciliation amongst all our people, for the good of our people and country.
