Dear Editor,
I write in response to Mr. Christopher Ram‘s letter published in the Stabroek News, edition dated June 13, 2020: captioned, `A movement once famous for its values and Rodneyite principles is now deeply involved in attempts to rig the 2020 elections.’
Dear Editor,
A Stabroek News article on June 7, 2020 stated inter alia that “This newspaper had last month reported that glitches during production startup saw flaring of over 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas; a figure subsequently confirmed by the EPA to be over 9 billion cubic feet, as ExxonMobil (XOM) assured that it would have from that week begin transitioning to using the gas for well injection purposes”.
Dear Editor,
Now that the March 2 elections are finally over, it is time for all Guyanese to put whatever political differences they may have behind them and begin in earnest the task of nation building.
Dear Editor,
In my letter “What new Gov’t should do” (SN, 9th June 2020) I mentioned some things that I feel the next Government should consider doing.
In a short time, Guyana will begin a fresh cycle of the political tug of war falsely proclaimed as governance that at this point could well be never ending.
Dear Editor,
I refer to the full-page advertisement which was carried in your Tuesday, 16 June 2020 edition on page 15, which, inter alia, reproduced the Caribbean Community’s (CARICOM ‘s) Logo.
Dear Editor,
The Guyana/Venezuela Border controversy needs to be resolved soonest so that Guyana can further exploit the resources of its maritime space and landmass which is being claimed by Venezuela.
Dear Editor,
Recently, my colleagues and I noticed that there have been some articles about Hong Kong national security legislation in Guyana’s newspapers and Face-book.
Dear Editor,
It is still dawn and dark on Tuesday, June 16, as I take to keyboard and screen to reach my fellow citizens, Guyanese brothers and sisters all.
Dear Editor,
I write to add my voice to the many that have expressed dismay and concern about our Ministry of Education’s incomprehensible plan to have our young Grade 6 students return to school before sitting the National Grade Six Assessment examination in the midst of one of the most deadly pandemics of all time.
Dear Editor,
As an octogenarian with more physical indispositions, including poor vision, with which I can cope, it is not feasible for me to go ‘on line’.
It was during the late 1980s, in an interview on one of the BBC Radio international current affairs programmes that the former USA Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, whilst dissecting some developing international crisis, declared, “… that power was the ultimate aphrodisiac…”
What is it about power that drives persons to pursue it with total reckless abandon?
Dear Editor,
Now that CARICOM or the most “appropriate interlocutor” of the elections has issued its report, upholding the integrity of the will of the electorate as exercised in the free and fair elections held on March 2, 2020, it is imperative for the GECOM Chair to lawfully declare the obvious winner without further haste.
Dear Editor,
We are on the eve of a momentous declaration regarding the “mother of all elections”, the declaration of the “results” of the March 2020 elections.
