Kwakwani in 50-9 drubbing of St Stanislaus

Kwakwani, the Bishops’ High and St. Rose’s High secured wins in the U14 section while Marian Academy was victorious in the girls division when the National School Basketball Festival [NSBF] continued on Tuesday.

Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Kwakwani mauled St. Stanislaus 50-9. Gevon Ross bagged a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

He was assisted by Kelon Phillips who added 10 points and Matthew David who scored nine points and six rebounds. For the losers, Jamie Bascom and Jaban Lovell tallied five and four points each.

On the other hand, The Bishops’ High edged Marian Academy 15-12. Matthias Arrindell led the Carmichael Street unit with five points and 12 rebounds, while Lamar Austin assisted with four points and five rebounds.

For Marian Academy, Jaden Pooran had four points and six rebounds while Trevor Rose contributed four points and five rebounds.

Also, St. Rose’s High downed YBG Cluster 27-10. Wayne Williams top scored with nine points and seven rebounds while Tevin Nedd and Calix Bernard added seven and six points respectively.

For the losers Amare Stewart and Jadon Mohan supported with four points correspondingly.

In the girls division, Marian Academy downed St. Stanislaus College 31-21. Kelliann Sauers led Marian Academy with 14 point, with Angelique Foo the next best scorer with six points.

Meanwhile, Kwakwani Secondary overcame Queen’s College 27-19. Holly Grimmond and Jalade Trim scored eight and seven points respectively in the victory.

For the losers, Naomi Barkoye tallied eight points and 21 rebounds. The Festival is sponsored by Edward B. Beharry and Company Ltd, The National Sports Commission, Banks DIH, Exxon Mobil and Bounty Ltd.
