Decomposed body found at Crabwood Creek

An unidentified decomposed body was found yesterday morning in a trench located in Crabwood Creek, Upper Corentyne.

Stabroek News was told that the body is that of a male East Indian and was discovered in the No. 5 Sideline trench at Grant 1779 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne.

According to a police source, the body which was discovered around 10 am was clad in a dark coloured shirt and checked three-quarter pants.

The source added, that the nose and mouth were swollen and oozing what appeared to be blood.

The discovery yesterday was made by a farmer who had gone to the canal to start his boat. While the body is yet to be identified, persons in the area have told this publication that he is suspected to be a “Dutch man”, from Suriname.

The remains have since been transported to Bailey’s Funeral Home located on the West Coast of Berbice and is awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination. The police have launched an investigation.
