Girls’ final postponed after rain forces abandonment of match

The Girls Division finale between New Campbellville and East Ruimveldt in the ExxonMobil Under-14 Secondary School Football Championship was abandoned yesterday due to a torrential downpour which rendered the playing area unplayable.

The aforesaid incident occurred minutes before the start of the matchup. Tournament coordinators Petra Organization disclosed that the final will be staged in the coming days.

In the third place playoff, Charlestown mauled Tucville 5-0. Donna Lowe recorded a hat-trick in the second, 10th and 24th minute, while Carlotta Ross tallied a double in the sixth and 11th minute.

Meanwhile, Cummings Lodge and Dolphin will compete in the Boys Division final following semi-final wins.

Cummings Lodge crushed Queenstown 9-0. Jitzak Martinez recorded a helmet trick in the 16th, 18th, 22nd and 39th minute, while Shiloh Adams also recorded a four-goal blitz in the sixth, 20th, 33rd and 44th minute. Adding a goal was Antoine Samuels in the 15th minute.

On the other hand, Carmel edged Dolphin 2-1. Shem James and Eon Daniels scored in the 10th and 33rd minute. For the loser, Dwayne James netted in the 32nd minute.
