Hill Side sends One `n’ Move packing

A new champion will be crowned in the ‘Let’s Bet Sports’ Mocha Village Cup’ Streetball Championships after Hill Side edged champion One ‘n’ Move on penalty kicks in quarterfinal round at the Mocha Hardcourt Tarmac on Monday.

Following a scoreless result at the end of regulation time, the star studded Hill Side held its nerve to prevail 3-1 from the penalty mark in a tense shoot-out witnessed by a large partisan crowd. Meanwhile Lack ah Scene, Touches and Hardball also sealed their place in the quarterfinal section.

Lack ah Scene bested Dream Chasers 2-1 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Prior to the penalty shoot-out, Marvin Forrester handed Dream Chasers the lead in the 12th minute, only for veteran defender Kester Alleyne to equalise five minutes later.

On the other hand, Touches dismantled Church Boys 3-0. The trident of Dominic Garnett, Reshawn Ritch and Lloyd Matthews found the back of the net in the 18th, 24th and 26th minute respectively. Also, Hard-ball squeaked past Frontside 1-0. Shamel Allen etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 17th minute.

The tournament continues today at the same venue with quarterfinal and eventual semi-final fixtures. In the opening match at 20:00hrs, Ballers Empire lock horns with Young Stars, while the second match will pit Hard-ball against Lack ah Scene from 20:45hrs.

In the third fixture, Touches will match skills with Hill Side from 21:30hrs, with the final match pitting Family against Future Stars from 22:15hrs. The respective winners from the aforesaid matches will progress to the semi-final round which will occur later in the evening. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Friday.

Winner of the event will pocket $200,000, with the second, third and fourth place finisher receiving $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 respectively. The other sponsors of the event Specom Incorporated, Western Union, Riaz Computers, Mocha Arcadia NDC, Royalty Investment, GT Beer and Joy Waters.
