Contrasting wins for Validium, Allicock

Vance Validum and Akeem Allicock secured contrasting victories when the inaugural I-Bet Supreme FIFA 20 ‘League of Champions’ e-Sports Championship, continued on Sunday evening.

It was a clinical performance from Validum (Liverpool), who crushed Travis Hart (FC Barcelona) by a 4-1 scoreline in the opening leg of their two match affair.

On the other hand, Akeem Allicock (FC Barcelona) squeaked past Osase Barclay (Juventus) 2-1. Also, Dane Haynes (FC Barcelona) and Emuwnah Pross (Real Madrid CF) played to a 1–1 draw.

Meanwhile, Tevin Bremner defeated Carlton Cummings via disqualification. Bremner was awarded the match 3-0 and will automatically progress to the second round.

The tournament is being played utilizing an elimination format and will consist of players battling with their favorite European club for bragging rights and the label of best in the nation. It is being streamed online via the official I-Bet Supreme Facebook page.

Michelangelo Jacobus, administrator of the tournament, during brief remarks said, “It was more quality action last night, we had four games, all edge-of-the-seat affairs, at this point it’s all boiling down to the second leg of the fixtures as each pairing is neck and neck with the exception of one.”

According to Jacobus, “The company is pleased with this tournament and we are looking forward to working on more eSports tourneys. It’s pleasing to me, as a FIFA enthusiast and a sports fan, I’m definitely looking forward to changing the game in terms of eSports here in Guyana.”

He further stated, “Of course as with anything, there is room for improvement, I’m working on regulations and a general outline for eSports which I’ll be looking to institute in the future. The next second leg fixtures will begin on Wednesday (April 29) and end on Saturday (May 2).”

“We’re all excited and anxious, the support has been tremendous in the gaming community, the competitors have been streaming through their respective Twitch accounts and outsiders have been looking on and giving their support to their respective favourites”, he added.

Winner of the event will pocket $50,000, two pennyweights of gold, a trophy, a case of Monster Energy Drink and a special Church’s Chicken Meal. Meanwhile, the second place finisher will collect $25,000, a case of Monster Energy Drink and a Church’s Chicken meal.

On the other hand, the third place finisher will receive $15,000, a case of Monster Energy Drinks as well as Church’s Chicken meal.

Sponsors of the event are I-Bet Supreme, Banks DIH under their Monster Energy Drink, Church’s Chicken, A&A Gamespot, Smoke Shack and NCN, who are programmed to stream the semifinals, third place and final.
