Buxton Stars Football Club elects new president and executive

Grantley Abrams was elected as president of the Buxton Stars Football Club, when the entity staged its electoral congress on September 5th.

This was confirmed by General Secretary of the East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA) Gidell Austin yesterday. According to Austin, Abrams was elected unopposed to the helm of the club in a process which was supervised by Jillian Frank, the second vice-president of the ECDFA.

Abrams will now lead the club for the next two years. The other members of his executive committee are 1st        Vice President, Avril Abrams; 2nd Vice President, Luan Gooding; 3rd Vice President and club doctor, Aneisha Moore; Treasurer, Christine Jones; Secretary, Okeme Beaton; and Committee Members Sheron Abrams, and Denisha Glasgow.

Presently, Buxton Stars, Dynamic FC, and Melanie FC, are amongst the clubs which have held their elections in preparation for the ECDFA Annual General Meeting (AGM). The other clubs that are scheduled to announce dates for their elections are: Plaisance, Beterverwagting, Paradise, Golden Stars, Victoria Scorpions, and Mahaica Determinators.

The ECDFA has confirmed that their constitutionally mandated electoral congress will occur on Sunday September 22 at the Beterverwagting/Quamina Primary School at 13:00hrs. The deadline for submission of prospective slates is September 12.

The ECDFA was constitutionally mandated to stage their elections in 2019. Currently, the association comprises President, Alfred King; 1st Vice President, Gregory Wickham; 2nd Vice-President, Jillian Frank; 3rd Vice President, Mark Pertab; Treasurer, Kessa Nedd; and Committee Members, Raymond Daw, Kevin Tixey, and Delon Adams.
