Jameer elected president of Melanie FC

Dexter Jameer was elected as president of the Melanie Football Club, when the entity staged its electoral congress on September 10th at the Melanie Community Centre ground.

This was confirmed by General Secretary of the East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA) Gidell Austin yesterday.

According to Austin, who was elected to the post of club secretary, Jameer ascended unopposed to the helm of the club.

The process was supervised by Austin on behalf of the association.

Jameer will now lead the club for the next two years.

The other members of his executive committee are 1st Vice President, Joshua Walcott; 2nd Vice President, Rayon Abrams; 3rd Vice President, Sirestsi Bascom; Treasurer, Wesley Ramsay  and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Rondell Bowman. The Committee Members are Wilbert Smart, Eldon Morris, Gladwin Semple and Eric Assanah.

Presently, Buxton Stars and Dynamic FC are among the clubs which have held elections in preparation for the ECDFA Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The other clubs that are scheduled to announce dates for their elections are: Plaisance, Beterverwagting, Paradise, Golden Stars, Victoria Scorpions, and Mahaica Determinators.

According to Austin, everything is currently being streamlined for the staging of the association’s congress, which was impeded by the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. “Everything is on schedule and so far so good,” he stated.

The ECDFA has confirmed that their constitutionally mandated electoral congress will take place on  September 22nd at the Beterverwagting/Quamina Primary School at 13:00hrs. The deadline for submission of prospective slates to contest the polls was yesterday.

The ECDFA was constitutionally mandated to stage their elections in 2019. At the moment, the association comprises President, Alfred King; 1st Vice President, Gregory Wickham; 2nd Vice-President, Jillian Frank; 3rd Vice President, Mark Pertab; Treasurer, Kessa Nedd; and Committee Members, Raymond Daw, Kevin Tixey, and Delon Adams.
