Winfield Braithwaite boxing tourney gets off to cracking start

The fifth annual Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Boxing Tournament got off to a cracking start last night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. 

Five bouts were carded on night one for the three-night fixture which has attracted boxers from Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia and The Bahamas. 

Prior to the bouts, there was the opening ceremony where brief remarks were made by President of the Bahamas Boxing Association, Vincent Satchran, President of Barbados Boxing Association, Melissa Brandsford-Jones and Vice President of the Guyana Olympic Association, Godfrey Munroe. After stating the importance of tournaments of this nature, Steve Ninvalle, the Director of Sport and President of the Guyana Boxing Association, declared the championship open.
