Ramayya resigns again from president’s taskforce

For a second time community activist Veerasammy Ramayya has resigned as the Coordinator for President Irfaan Ali’s Rapid Response Taskforce in Region Six, alleging that there is massive corruption in the region and that when it is highlighted by him regional officials become upset.

NPTAB defends bids for Wales gas plant

The National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) has taken umbrage at criticisms of its prequalification of companies for the construction of the Wales natural gas plant, with officials saying that simply checking the board’s website and those of companies that bid would clear up any doubts.

Dear Editor, It is hard to understand that with all the proclaimed regulations and checks and balances, ‘captains’  not certified, boats not permitted to operate a certain route, and operating after the stipulated hours, are routinely doing so, flouting the system, to the detriment of passengers, as was the case in the recent tragedy.
