$400M in gold stolen from Mahaica hoarder

A man was yesterday handed a four-year jail sentence after admitting to being party to the theft of $400 million worth of raw gold from a Mahaica dealer and four others, including two subordinate Guyana Police Force (GPF) ranks, are in custody in connection with the ongoing investigation of the crime.

Swine farmers receive improved breeds to up production

The Ministry of Agriculture through its Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA) and the Agriculture Sector Development Unit last week handed over a total of 20 imported pigs, comprising 17 females and three males, to new and established swine farmers last week to improve their stock and boost the country’s overall pork production levels.
