DC Caesar Fox crush Golden Grove, Annai, Christianburg/Wismar in stalemate

The opening action at the 3rd edition of the KFC Goodwill Schools Football Series which commenced yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence, saw DC Caesar Fox crush Golden Grove 6-0, while defending champion Annai going up against Christianburg/Wismar, played to a 2-2 stalemate.

Kenwyn Percy led the rout for the Region Seven outfit with a second-half double in the 52nd and 70th minute. Supporting with goals in the 30th, 56th, 58th and 60th minute respectively, were Bevon Jones, Kemron Thomas, Raydon Kramer, and Carlito Joseph.

Meanwhile, Annai Secondary and Christianburg/Wismar battled to a 2-2 draw. Amani King and Kelvin Hintzen scored in the 13th and 33rd minute respectively for the Lindeners. For Annai, Narish Bartholomew and Adrian Cabral netted in the fourth and 56th minute apiece.

The tournament continued tomorrow with another round of fixtures at the same venue. At 14:00 hours, St. Benedict of Trinidad and Tobago will oppose Golden Grove, while Christianburg/Wismar will engage SVB of Suriname at 16:00 hours.

The six competing teams will initially contest a round-robin stage round comprising two zones of three. Group-A comprises newcomer St. Benedict College of Trinidad and Tobago, Golden Grove, and DC Caesar Fox [formerly Waramadong].

Group-B consists of GuyOil League winner, Christianburg/Wismar, Annai Secondary and SVB Academy of Suriname. At the conclusion of the group round, the top two finishers in each pool will advance to the semi-final section.

The other sponsors of the tournament include Tiger Rentals Guyana, Trophy Stall, Guyana Beverage Incorporated, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
