Guyana men’s hockey team finished the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) hockey tournament in seventh place following their 7-0 rout of El Salvador yesterday on the final day of the competition in the Dominican Republic.
Guyana netted all seven goals in the first half after leading 2-0 at the end of the first quarter. Simeon Moore and Meshach Sargeant scored two goals each with Moore converting in the 17th and 29th minutes while Sargeant netted in the 18th and 29th minutes.
There was a goal apiece for Robert France (ninth), Shakeem Fausette (14th), and Oshazay Savory (23rd). Mexico won the championship beating Trinidad and Tobago in the final 5-1. Third place was taken by Cuba following their 4-2 over Barbados who ended in fourth place.
The Dominican Republic placed fifth after defeating Jamaica 3-1. The final standings are: Mexico (1), Trinidad and Tobago (2), Cuba (3), Barbados (4), Dominican Republic (5), Jamaica (6), Guyana (7) and El Salvador (8).
