Three more COVID-19 cases

Guyana has confirmed three more cases of persons with the novel coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), bringing the total number to 73, Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence announced today.

EU in donations to ease impact of COVID-19

Today, the  Ambassador of the European Union to Guyana Fernando Ponz Cantó, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Demerara, made an urgent donation of personal computers, smartphones, tablets and, sanitation and food hampers to the Deaf Association of Guyana and to the Guyana Society for the Blind.

Mosquito Hall fisherman killed, suspect held

The Police say they are investigating the murder of Zahir Ali , aged 40 years,  a fisherman  of Lot 78 Mosquito Hall, Unity,  Mahaica, East Coast Dememara which occurred on 2020-04-22 about 7.20 pm  allegedly by two males, one of whom has since been detained while the other is being sought.

EMA warns against malaria drugs’ side effects in COVID-19 use

FRANKFURT,  (Reuters) – The European Union’s drug regulator warned again today against using two older malaria drugs to treat COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus, outside trials or national emergency use programmes, citing potentially lethal side-effects.

Aircraft owners: COVID-19 measures excessive

The Aircraft Owners Association of Guyana (AOAG) today said that the measures imposed by the COVID-19 task force on the industry are excessive and it also disclosed that it was considering providing relief flights to Region Eight.
