Letters to the Editor

Bisram and the PPP

Dear Editor, At the last India Day parade in New York, representatives of the Guyana government and the PPP were there.

Bureau of Statistics staff waiting for President to approve their pensions

Dear Editor, I would first of all like to quote from Michael Maxwell’s letter to KN headed ‘8% public servant pay increase is not what it seems,’ in which he states “… Jagdeo will retire like an Emperor with his ridiculous pension, gardener, cook, secretary, security guards, use of state motor vehicles, free travel the world over and more…” Mr Jagdeo’s need for employment may be redundant after such a magnanimous financial endowment.

PNCR leader not on list

Dear Editor, I wish to correct an inaccuracy published in your today’s issue (Thursday, November 3, 2011), under the caption, ‘Ronald Bulkan, Charles Ceres on APNU Slate.’

Afrikan sisters should dance on

Dear Editor, Afrikans are a gravely misunderstood people and it is understandable why anyone who has not got rid of the brainwashing education would misunderstand even Afrikan enthusiasm.

Could GT&T not extend its talent search?

Dear Editor, Within the borders of this country there is more talent than is recognized, but there are fewer opportunities than most other countries where talent is not a challenge to those in authority but expertise to be nurtured for the goal of all.

Will soon put an end to speculation

Dear Editor, I would like to declare that I will soon be putting an end to the seemingly unending speculation as to the party I will be supporting in the upcoming elections.

Like Dr Jagan, Ramotar is unpretentious and modest

Dear Editor, Anyone intimately, or even cursorily, familiar with our nation’s founding father, our former President and my grandfather, Dr Cheddi Berret Jagan can effortlessly attest to his modest upbringing and humble, down-to-earth nature.

Not the moral compass of Guyana

Dear Editor, I refer to Mr Rakesh Rampertab’s correspondence, ‘Party and press seem to have become one‘ (SN, Nov 4), which in language that is unambiguous cites me for a moral failing.

The parties’ manifestos should include a section on the disabled

Dear Editor, The political parties‘ manifestos need a new framework of government which recognises frankly  that it is the duty of the state to intervene actively in the affairs of its disabled people with a view to guaranteeing them some minimum level of decent living, and providing them with the means of achieving this.

People know the truth

Dear Editor, Bharrat Jagdeo is fast descending into buffoonery with campaign rhetoric which is inflammatory, vindictive, petty and callous, and which is only surpassed by its downright illogicality and crass foolishness.

ATM card issue addressed

Dear Editor, Reference is made to an item carried in your letters to the editor section on Monday, October 31, 2011 captioned ‘Card swallowed by ATM machine not retrieved in a timely fashion.’
