Bai Shan Lin in new bid for large scale logging

Controversial Chinese company Bai Shan Lin International Forest Development Inc has submitted an application to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for an environmental authorization to undertake large scale logging in parts of regions six and nine, according to a notice in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek.

As a result of the visit of Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Annette Ferguson, to the Mazaruni Dockyard, it was determined that there is an immediate need to revitalize the operations of that facility, a release from the Ministry said yesterday.
