Bounty Farm boost for Timehri Panthers

Bounty Farm Limited donated several pieces of equipment to East Bank Football Association [EBFA] side Timehri Panthers to aid in their preparation for the impending Guyana Football Federation [GFF] Super 16 Championship, which is slated to commence on Sunday December 15th.

CH&PA aiming to deliver 5,000 house lots per year

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) of Guyana is currently allocating some 3,000 house lots on an annual basis, according to Chief Executive Officer Lelon Saul, who says the agency is working to increase that number to 5,000, while also reducing a backlog of approximately 50,000 applications.

Emergency works to repair a collapsed section of the Leguan Stelling commenced yesterday morning and the contractor is aiming to complete the rehabilitation to reopen the facility to the public by Friday, General Manager of the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) Marcelene Merchant said yesterday.

Guyana has been elected as Chair of the G77 Group, a United Nations coalition of developing nations, but diplomatic sources have questioned the cost, including potentially undermining the country’s past efforts in lobbying for support in its border controversy with Venezuela.

Failure to address the ethnic impetus in domestic abuse will see the scourge continue

Dear Editor, In the wake of the latest murder of a young Indo-Guyanese woman, Donna Dojoy, I, quite some time ago, came across a social media post by a former minister’s daughter, who is a prominent lawyer, who posted something to the effect that domestic abuse is not confined to any ethnic group, religion or class and, more importantly, mentioned that ignorant posts are extremely harmful to those who are suffering from the scourge.

Three bid to supply x-ray machine for Communities Ministry

Bids were opened yesterday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) in Georgetown for the procurement of goods and services for several public agencies, including three for the supply and installation of a new x-ray machine with computed radiography system for the Ministry of Communities.

WADA bans Russia again

On Monday, the 12 executive members of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) met in Lausanne, the small Swiss city on Lake Geneva, to review the recommendation made last month by WADA’s independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC) that RUSADA, the Russian anti-doping agency, should be declared non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code in the face of erased or manipulated data forwarded to WADA.
