Gov’t adding 17 closed circuit security cameras to key locations

Government is boosting the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) high technology security camera system to support crime prevention efforts by the Joint Services by adding 17 camera locations including more in the highly congested Stabroek Market area, at the Berbice River Bridge and the Lusignan Prisons on the lower East Coast among other areas.

Police probing murder of South Rupununi miner

The Police today said that they are investigating the murder of Marcellus ‘Ton’ Reynolds, 31, a miner of Achiwuib, South Rupununi which occurred on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Marudi Backdam, South Rupununi allegedly by a 17-year-old male who is in custody assisting with the probe.

Annai teen dies in road mishap

A 16-year old student of Bina Hill Secondary School in Annai, North Rupununi, died on Wednesday after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and crashed into bushes along a road in the community.

Shomari Wiltshire grabbed the silver medal in the Under 17 category of the Canadian Junior Squash Open championship after losing the final to Gabriel Yun on Tuesday at the White Oaks Conference Centre, Niagara, Canada.
