Repsol to be fined by EPA for mud spill offshore

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)  is preparing to levy a fine against Spanish oil company, Repsol for a mud spill which occurred offshore in the Kanuku Block, even as the agency mulls lobbing government to push for 24/7 oversight and for new legislation to raise the paltry levies attached to such incidents.

Essequibo rice lands still flooded

Several farmers on the Essequibo Coast have suffered losses as a result of their lands being under water for days after flooding from rains and Regional Chairman Devanand Ramdatt told Stabroek News that some lands are still inundated.
