GCB to host U-19 inter-county tournament in mid-January 

Territorial Development Officer (TDO) of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Colin Stuart, says that the board is set to stage an Under – 19 Inter-County tournament in mid – January 2021 to allow players, who missed the 2020 edition of the tournament due to the ongoing pandemic, the opportunity to showcase their talent. 

Two-week bonus to health workers entirely at government’s discretion

Dear Editor, The Guyana Public Service Union, rather than being critical should applaud the Government for providing a bonus of two weeks’ pay to health care workers,  The union should be aware that a bonus is a non-negotiated payment based on management discretion unless it is stipulated as a condition in an employer’s manual, a contract of employment or within a union agreement. 

The PSC, Palm Court and the COVID-19 Task Force

Quite what would have triggered last week’s outburst by the Private Sector Commission (PSC) in response to correspondence sent to the Palm Court Restaurant and Bar by the COVID-19 Task Force in the matter of what the Task Force says is the popular downtown entertainment facility’s repeated breaching of the restrictions associated with the pandemic, is difficult to tell.
