GPL gets 9.6 MW boost

The Guyana Power and light Inc. (GPL) this evening announced the arrival of six  1.6 Megawatt (MW) Caterpillar Units which were purchased to boost generating capacity for the holiday season.

PS says health workers bonus is promised risk allowance

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Malcolm Watkins yesterday said the two week bonus announced by President Irfaan Ali is the “risk allowance” that has been promised to health care workers, while the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) has maintained that the position was contrary to an informal agreement that had been reached.

Harbour bridge seeks to ease rush hour congestion with earlier west-bound double lane

In an effort to reduce the morning rush hour traffic congestion on the Demerara Harbour Bridge, as well as ease the build-up of traffic on the East and West banks of Demerara, a decision has been taken to restrict the west-bound traffic on the bridge from 6.15 am to 7 am In a notice published on its Facebook page yesterday morning, the DHBC announced that double lane traffic proceeding east on the Demerara Harbour Bridge will begin from 6.15am until  7am.
