Historic GDF Skyvan in final flight

The final flight of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Shorts Skyvan 8R-GGK (Eight Romeo-Gulf Gulf Kilo), landed at Air Station London to a traditional water cannon salute, followed by a final salute from the Officers and Ranks of Air Corps during a ceremony to officially retire the aircraft, a release from the GDF said.

GRA charges Ramps with false declarations

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) yesterday filed 10  charges against Ramps Logistics Guyana (RLG) for false declarations but the company says the charges are null and void and it pointed out that the court action had come just days after it had sought judicial review over the conduct of  the Local Content Secretariat.

Guyana’s suicide problem persists and remains significant

Dear Editor,  Policy makers and social activists felt relieved in early 2022 when the reported suicide rate declined (by 21.7%) between 2016 (23.4 per 100,000) and 2021 (18.3 per 100,000), partly in response to initiatives linked to the Government’s National Suicide Prevention Strategy 2015-2020 (NSPS), and National Mental Health Action Plan, 2015-2020, as well as to the work of NGOs, but the suicide problem persists and remains significant.
