Gov’t claim of ‘no obligation’ to consult on wages is affront to public servants, trade union movement – GPSU

The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) has rejected government’s contention that “there is no obligation for consultation” on hiking the pay of public servants, saying that it “flies in the face of the very underpinnings of the Trade Union movement, and compromises the constitutional rights of the employees to join, and be represented by, trade unions.”

In an effort to make the roads safer, ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Traffic Department have embarked on ‘Operation Safe Road,’ which has already led to the arrest of several drivers for violation of various traffic related offences over the past few days.
