India sweep series with big win over Windies

 (Reuters) – India completed an emphatic 2-0 series sweep against West Indies when they won the second test by 257 runs in Jamaica today after the hosts’ batsman Darren Bravo retired hurt and was replaced by a concussion substitute.

Harbour bridge closed following collision

Commuters on the West Coast and West Bank of Demerara will today and possibly tomorrow have to make their way to Region 4 via boat service as the Demerara Harbour Bridge is under emergency closure after a tug slammed into it around 1 am today.

NICIL SPU rewards top Region Six students

Three students from Region Six who were part of their region’s top five performances at Grade Six examinations were recognised by the National Industrial and Commercial and Investments Limited (NICIL/Special Project Unit) at a ceremony held on Friday in the Regional Education Officer’s office.
