Leon Johnson schooled the University of Guyana (UG) with a masterly unbeaten ton  as the  Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) reached 357-8 replying to UG’s 47 all out at the end of the first day’s play of the GISE/Star Party Rental/Trophy Stall First-Division  two-day match 310 runs ahead.

Guyana ready to do its part to protect Amazon

Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman on Friday affirmed Guyana’s readiness to work with sister states to protect the Amazon rainforest as the country signed a pact with six fellow Amazonian states to coordinate disaster response and satellite monitoring.

No to merging of voter registration data

Dear Editor, The insistence of the caretaker coalition government for the data from the un-scrutinised house-to-house registration to be merged with the National Register of Registrants Database (NRRD) – which has been updated through several cycles of continuous registration and used as the basis for the last several elections, including the 2015 General and Regional Elections that led to the APNU+AFC coalition taking office – must be rejected as a perpetuation of delay tactics.

Not very long ago, looking into the future, it would have been easy to prophesy for 2020 drug-related crime spreading an indelible stain over more and more of the world, trouble in Kashmir, unrelenting warfare between Israel and Palestine and then, nearer home, CARICOM still struggling to achieve the most elementary kinds of unity and, actually at home, Guyana riven to the soul by race division.
