Granger confirms Ramjattan as APNU+AFC PM candidate

After weeks of mixed signals from President David Granger and APNU, it now appears certain that if the coalition government gets back into office, AFC leader Khemraj Ramjattan will be the prime minister.

Expressing optimism of victory at the upcoming elections, the opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) yesterday launched their campaign to regain office, with General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo launching blistering attacks on the government for their failings and presidential candidate Irfaan Ali saying that under his leadership, the country will be transformed.

‘We have a plan’

To a roaring crowd of thousands of supporters, the governing APNU+AFC coalition yesterday launched its bid for a second term in office, with leaders saying that much has been accomplished over the past four years and they have a plan that will ensure that Guyana will never be poor again.

ANUG to contest polls with FEDUP

A New and United Guyana (ANUG) and the Federal United Party (FEDUP) will contest the March 2, 2020 elections as a “single entity” though the details of what that entity will be called or how it will function to maintain the individual identities of the two parties remain unclear.
