State seeking to overturn entire GTU decision by Justice Kissoon

Saying that it is “dissatisfied with the whole” of the April 19 decision of Justice Sandil Kissoon in which he issued a stinging rebuke to the Ministry of Education, the state yesterday filed a notice of appeal against the judgment and it is also seeking a stay of execution of part of the judgment that bars the Education Minis-try from discontinuing the deduction of union dues from teacher’ salaries and remitting same to the GTU.

Motorcyclist dies after collision on Liverpool public road

Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday at about 19.15 hours on the Liverpool public road, Corentyne, Berbice which claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist and injured the pillion rider The accident involved the now-deceased, Zameer Alli, a labourer of Letter Kenny Village, Corentyne, Berbice, who was riding a motorcycle with pillion rider, Samuel Anderson, a 23- year-old of Lot 34 St Paul Street, Rosehall, Corentyne, Berbice and a motor car, HD 3517, and driven by Eutambu Downer, a 48 year-old taxi driver of Lot 13 Limlair Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

GNBS in nation-wide exercise to examine measuring instruments

Biker hurt in Albouystown accident

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at about 8.15 pm, the police said that a serious accident occurred on Independence Boulevard and Hill Street, Albouystown involving PAE 3982 owned by Denvor Rankin of Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara  and driven by Rudy Van-Der-Meer, age 28, a deliveryman of Lot 15 Norton Street Werk-en-Rust Georgetown, and  a motorcycle (unregistered) ridden by Nicholie De Souza, age 19, a mechanic of 27 D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown.
