Beavers thrash Crane in West Demerara football

Beavers maintained their lead at the standings in the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League, defeating Crane Rovers 4-0 at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground.

Kenaz Stephens was the difference between the teams as he crafted a helmet trick. Stephens opened his account in the 14th minute before doubling his side’s advantage as he found the back of the net in the 32nd minute.

His first-half hat-trick was then sealed, as he made his presence felt once more in the 43rd minute. Stephens completed his haul as he converted once more in the 47th minute.

Due to the win, the Beavers unit climbs onto 12 points, six points clear of the next challenger, albeit having played three more matches. On the other side, Crane Rovers remain in fourth place on five points.

Belle West squeaked past Limitless by a 3-2 score-line. Daniel Gibson handed Belle West the early advantage as he found the back of the net in the third minute. Gibson then completed his brace in the 30th minute to double his side’s advantage.

Limitless eventually reduced the deficit in the 41st minute as Jeremy Smith netted. The score remained unchanged entering the halftime interval. Upon the resumption, S. Duke restored Belle West’s two-goal lead following a 65th-minute strike.

Earl Benjamin then made his presence felt as he scored in the 76th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-3 for Limitless. However, Belle West thwarted the efforts of Limitless in their pursuit of an equaliser in the remaining minutes to secure the hard-fought wins.

With the results, Belle West climbs onto six points and moves into the third position, while the loser remains pointless in ninth place.
