By David Comissiong Ambassador to Caricom On the 19th of December 2022, Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, speaking on behalf of the entire Dutch Government, issued a formal Apology for the role that the Government of the Netherlands played in the enslavement of African people and in the so-called slave trade that supported that system of human oppression.
