Prison escapee and double-murder suspect Akeem Wong was fatally shot at around 13:40 hrs today  at ‘Groete Creek’ Backdam, Essequibo River in Region #7, the police say.

Construction worker remanded over gun, ammo, narcotics

Christopher Durjan, a 39-year-old construction worker of Lot 10 First Street Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was arrested by a rank from Vigilance Police Station last week and charged with the following offences: ** Possession of Narcotics for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to Section 5 (1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, Chapter 10/10 (to wit 2338 grams)  ** Possession of Ammunition, contrary to Section 16 (2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05  ** Possession of Firearm, contrary to section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

Mahdia man nabbed with suspected marijuana

Police ranks in Regional Division #8 conducted a cordon-and-search exercise on Thursday night at the Mahdia Arcade, where they stopped and searched Julian Hodge, called ‘Gully’, a 30-year-old Miner of Seven Miles Mahdia, Potaro, who was found with 13.8 grammes of suspected marijuana in his possession.
