West Ruimveldt house destroyed by fire

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) says at 4:47 am today it received a call and was alerted to a fire at Lot 188 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown.

FITUG raps gov’t over minimum wage

The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana  (FITUG) yesterday voiced disappointment at the delay in implementation of the $60,000 minimum wage even though the Ministry of Labour’s National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has agreed to the hike from the current $44,200.

Body of man in Canje Creek mishap found

The body of the man who went missing in the boat mishap in the Canje Creek on Friday evening was yesterday afternoon discovered a short distance away from the Canje Bridge and near to where the incident happened.

Man dies in Vlissengen Road collision

Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 2:15 am today at the intersection of Sandy Babb Street and Vlissengen Road in the vicinity of Camp Ayanganna involving motor Jeep #PTT 4136 which is owned and was being driven by Roberto Narine, a 37-year-old male of School Street, Peters Hall, EBD; and motor car #PXX 4592 which is owned and was being driven by Sheik Baksh,  a 31-year-old of Dowding Street, Kitty with occupant Ian Mekdeci (deceased), a 27-year-old male of First Avenue Subryanville, Georgetown.
