Simmons’ hundred propels dominant Red Force to title

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Ace opener Lendl Simmons blazed an imperious hundred as a dominant Trinidad and Tobago Red Force stormed to their first domestic 50-overs title in five years by crushing Guyana Jaguars by 152 runs in a lopsided final of the Regional Super50 Cup here last night.

PMCC elects new executives

Omeshwar Sirikishun was yesterday elected president of the Port Mourant Cricket Club (PMCC) when the body held its annual general meeting on the steps of their main pavilion.

Child Advocacy Centres opened in Corentyne

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security yesterday launched a Child Advocacy Centre in Springlands, Upper Corentyne and Whim Village, Corentyne with Minister Vindhya Persaud stating that such initiatives are important to create a space for young children where they can visit and access help.

Gauging impacts of the 2020 crisis on the oil-producing companies

Introduction Today’s column shifts focus from determining direct impacts on oil production, price, government revenue and their consequential effects on GDP arising from the 2020 general crisis (as I have portrayed this process) on Guyana’s infant oil and gas sector towards gauging impacts, going  forward, on the leading transnational producer grouping in this sector: ExxonMobil and partners. 

What a dog

Going in, I have heard all the stories about the Pit Bull breed of dogs, with their potential to be aggressive and even dangerous, but my experience with Peppa, the Pit Bull owned by my stepson Alex Arjoon, my wife Annette’s son from her previous marriage, has been a total joy in the going on two years we’ve known her.
