Amazon Warriors win…finally

Guyana Amazon Warriors 99/1 (Ayub 52*, Hope 32*; Hosein 1/21) beat Trinbago Knight Riders 94 all out (Carty 38, Deyal 16; Pretorius 4/26, Motie 2/7)  by 9 wickets   It was a historic night at Providence as Guyana Amazon Warriors won the 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final with a 9 wicket win over the Trinbago Knight Riders, ensuring a maiden CPL title for the franchise.

Five-year-old girl dies after asthma attack

By Mia Anthony Five-year-old Jai-Devi Gurdyal passed away at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Friday after suffering an asthma attack and relatives say they were told she had been overdosed on antibiotics at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) earlier that morning.

Police in Berbice find 3,845 grammes marijuana

Police on mobile patrol duty in Regional Division #6, acting on information, went to a fisherman’s residence at Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice, at about 7.30 pm yesterday, where they found six bulky parcels wrapped with transparent plastic and black plastic bags, along with bed sheets, towels, and a jersey.

Barnwell taxi driver held over gun

At about 2 pm yesterday, acting on information received, Police went to a house at Barnwell, East Bank Essequibo, where they arrested a 27-year-old taxi driver who was found to be in possession of an unlicensed 9mm firearm with two matching rounds of ammunition.
