Gov’t issues demand letter to Troy Resources for $2.6b

The government has sent a demand letter to Australian mining company, Troy Resources, which abruptly shuttered operations here, warning that failure to pay the over $2.6 billion in royalties owed, will result in the termination of their agreement and licences while simultaneously pursuing all legal means to ensure this country collects its due.

Six arrested over killing of golf club guard

Police in Regional Division 4C, under the command of Superintendent Krishna Ramana, yesterday morning arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of Dalchand Dhanai, the security guard who was found dead on Thursday while on duty at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.

Bill Richardson, U.S. diplomat and troubleshooter, dead at 75

WASHINGTON,  (Reuters) – Bill Richardson, a former U.S. diplomat, congressman, energy secretary and New Mexico governor who made his mark on the world stage by securing the release of Americans and others held by various autocratic governments, has died at the age of 75, the Richardson Center for Global Engagement said on Saturday.
