In 2015 Lowenfield said impersonation `just not possible’

On June 13, Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield, told the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) that “instances of voter impersonation” have affected the standard of the March 2 Polls and used this and other alleged anomalies to invalidate approximately 25% of the ballots cast but an interview from 2015 shows the same Lowenfield contending that impersonation “is just not possible”.

July 7-10 virtual literary ‘outing’ for Women Across Borders

Better known for her contribution to the local fashion industry over the years, Guyanese businesswoman Sonia Noel, along with women from other countries in the region and the USA, will ‘stage’ a virtual event from Tuesday, July 7 to Sunday July, 10 as part of the launch of two collections of writings, namely, “Women Across Borders: Fulfilling Purpose With A Mission” and “Rising From the Ashes”, which were compiled and published in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Local small and micro enterprises need help beyond current Small Business Bureau grants

Three small business owners in the agro-processing sector have told the Stabroek Business that official support for struggling small and micro businesses has to go beyond the grants currently being offered by the state-run Small Business Bureau (SBB) since these are unlikely to make a significant impact on the survival of enterprises that are now on the brink of total collapse.

Anyone who thought the de facto President was just a puppet on a string whom diehard party elements along with former military personnel were just manipulating, was forced to revise that judgement on Monday when the caretaker head of state emerged from behind the curtain  and revealed himself as the puppet-master.
